EducationUSA Opportunity Fund Program Applications OPEN
As per the U.S. Embassy's press release today, we are excited that the Call for Applications is now live for the EducationUSA Opportunity Fund Program, which we assist in the recruitment and management of, as per a cooperative agreement with the U.S. mission in South Africa:

Talented South African learners and students from low-income backgrounds interested in studying in the United States are encouraged to apply for the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP). OFP supports learners and students to apply for scholarships and admission to colleges and universities in the United States. Over the last eight years, the dedicated EducationUSA team has helped more than 2, 200 exceptional South African students make their dream of studying in the United States come true.
Learners and students with a strong academic record, robust participation in extracurricular activities, involvement in leadership roles, and an excellent community service record are encouraged to apply to the program. OFP finances the cost of the application process, including registration fees for the required standardized examinations.
This free of charge EducationUSA Program includes seminars and meetings that prepare South African citizens or permanent residents to apply for and pursue undergraduate or graduate studies in America. “My journey was far from linear, it took twists and turns but it ultimately led me to a place where I am living out my dreams,” said Luka Radosavljevic, a South African student currently studying materials science and engineering at Cornell University. “In 2016, I was working with EducationUSA on my applications to universities in the U.S. My immense financial need only made my chances slimmer but one of the EducationUSA advisers connected me with community colleges and I eventually received a full-tuition scholarship,” he said. Through hard work at community college and perseverance, Luka managed to transfer to Cornell and is on track to complete his studies.
The OFP undergraduate program is open to current matriculants and gap year students only. Students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in the United States are requested to complete the graduate application form.
Successful applicants will work with a team of EducationUSA advisers from April 2021 to August 2022 to try to secure places and financial assistance to begin study in the U.S. in August 2022.

When it comes to building confidence in everyday communication, I would rather understand one useful detail properly than rush through a long list of ideas. Practising a small conversation can make speaking up feel more manageable. It also gives the phrase communication confidence a clearer meaning than a label on its own. A short discussion of an everyday example would make this easier for me to connect with, especially as someone still learning about the subject. Which low-pressure activities help someone become more comfortable expressing an idea?
The subject of exploring the paths taken by graduates feels more interesting when there is room for a reader to stop and ask their own questions. A career story can show the changes and decisions that a short job title leaves out. That connection helps me see why graduate career pathways can be worth a closer look. I am more curious about the process than a polished result, because the steps in between are usually where questions appear. Which questions would make an interview with a graduate useful for current students?
The topic of finding agreement through respectful discussion gives me a few things to think about, especially when the discussion moves beyond general advice. Listening for a shared concern can make disagreement easier to work through. It gives me a more concrete starting point for thinking about consensus building skills. The part I would like to explore further is what happens when the idea meets a real situation with its own limitations. What helps a group move towards a decision while keeping different views visible?
Thinking about keeping educational competitions enjoyable, I find the smaller practical questions more interesting than a quick conclusion. A challenge can be motivating when the experience matters alongside the final result. I would use that point as a starting question when considering student learning competitions. I would probably come back to this question after trying to work through one concrete example rather than deciding immediately. How can a competition reward curiosity and persistence as well as correct answers?
I find developing practical IT skills in Bielsko easier to think about when there is a concrete question to start from. Solving a small real problem can make a technical lesson easier to remember. That connection helps me see why IT skills in Bielsko can be worth a closer look. I can imagine different answers depending on the situation, so I would want to understand the context before drawing conclusions.
