A Bit About Us

The Protea Owl Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established in April 2019 and is registered in South Africa. Their mission is to support and empower the talented and driven youth of South Africa by providing them with access to global education cultural exchange opportunities that they would not otherwise have They focus on high school and university students who are interested in pursuing higher education and cultural exchange programs that promote skill development and work experience.

The foundation is committed to assisting these youths while they are in university and afterward to gain essential professional experience, with the aim of making their transition home more viable. They have a main partnership with the U.S. Department of State's EducationUSA program in South Africa, managing their Opportunity Funds Program, which is a college or university access program that assists highly talented and determined, economically disadvantaged grade 12 students in negotiating and financing the admissions process for international colleges and universities. The ultimate goal of this program is to produce highly skilled and widely educated leaders who can help build a better future.

In addition to their main partnership, the Protea Owl Foundation has several other cooperative agreements with the U.S. Embassy in South Africa to assist with the logistical processes of their cultural exchange opportunities and events, including their flagship scholarship for graduate students (post-grad) and scholars, the prestigious Fulbright. Overall, the Protea Owl Foundation is dedicated to providing South African youth with the tools and resources they need to succeed on a global scale.
